Ethical charter

This charter applies, without geographical limitation, to all L’Afep employees and people mandated by it.

Our principles

Transparency and professionalism

L’Afep’s budget, the list of its members, the organisations it belongs to, and its main positions are public, in particular on its website. L’Afep representatives always inform the institutions and organisations they meet about who they are representing.

Honesty and integrity are the guiding principles of L’Afep’s actions. L’Afep provides reliable and verified information and analyses based on in-depth expertise, reflecting the current state of knowledge. These analyses are independent of the media and politicians.

Compliance with national and European legislation

L’Afep complies with all current national and European laws and regulations, particularly those governing the acquisition and dissemination of official documents. L’Afep does not exercise illicit influence or participate in corruption.

Independence from public authorities and political parties

L’Afep is a non-governmental organisation whose annual budget is made up exclusively of contributions from its member companies. It receives no contributions from the State, local authorities or other organisations. L’Afep is apolitical and does not finance any political party or express any partisan preference.

Member companies are treated equally according to the principle of “one member = one vote”

The contributions of L’Afep member companies are the same regardless of their size. No single company or sector of activity has a predominant influence.

Our commitments

In their contacts with public authorities, L’Afep teams commit to:

  • register in the transparency registers in accordance with applicable legislation, and comply with the codes of conduct, good governance practices and regulations of the institutions beforewhich lobbying is carried out;
  • inform each interlocutor about their identity and the interests, objectives or purposes that L’Afep promotes;
  • declare any potential conflict of interest;
  • refrain from holding any national or European political mandate during their tenure at L’Afep;
  • refrain from mandating persons exercising public responsibilities to represent its interests;
  • refrain from offering benefits, gifts, or covering expenses with the intent to obtain consideration or any undue advantage;
  • refrain from taking any action aimed at obtaining information or decisions throughillegal means;
  • not encourage representatives of public authorities to breach the rules and standards of conduct applicable to them;
  • not claim or imply any formal relationship with public authorities in their relations with third parties;
  • present the position of companies in good faith and respect the views of interlocutors whose positions may differ from those defended by L’Afep;
  • demonstrate integrity and intellectual probity and protect the confidentiality of the information communicated;
  • in all circumstances, develop arguments based on reliable and verified information and analyses based on in-depth expertise, reflecting the current state of knowledge;
  • respond rigorously to requests for information.

Towards the members of the Association, L’Afep teams commit to:

  • protect the confidentiality of the data communicated to them;
  • respect equal treatment by defending the general interest of member companies without giving preference to any particular company or sector within the framework of consensus defined by the members;
  • inform its members in a clear, regular and reliable manner on the main legislative and regulatory developments in the Association’s areas of action;
  • report on the Association’s activities in occasional or monthly information notes and meetings as well as in the activity report.
